Yoga Teacher: Shoshana Treichel
Ever since Shoshana took her first yoga class in the basement of a dear friend in Kenai, Alaska in 1994, she decided one day to add yoga instruction to her fitness programs. She continued her education with her first 200 RYT Yoga Certification from Core Power in 2005 and has been teaching yoga ever since. She went on to complete an additional 200 RYT in the Hot 26 series with Hot Yoga Vail Valley. Shoshana then went on to complete an Advanced yoga certification with Core Power Yoga in 2012. Two years later, in 2014, she began accomplishing her original dream of pursuing a 3-year International Teacher Training program at the world-renowned Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India, which is considered one of the world’s leading authorities and the Mother Ship of all yoga. She completed her IYTT degree and graduated in July, 2017. Shoshana, than went on to study Yoga Therapy at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, from 2018-2023, so has amassed over 1600 hours of advanced training at the KYM.
She also became a certified halotherapist from the Salt Therapy Association in September 2020. Shoshana has also masterminded creating her own yoga sequences, even including combining her weight lifting expertise, yoga training, and meditation practices to make ABHY ONE stop shopping. She has developed programs for Yoga studios in the Washington DC area, Kentucky, the west coast, and the Southern part of the USA and continues to help develop sustainable yoga practices that are based on the KYM standards. Shoshana also leads annual yoga retreats. You do not want to miss out on these amazing opportunities.
She has also completed an MS in medical stress reduction through exercise and nutrition from Harvard University and carries certifications in nutrition, personal training, yoga, advanced yoga therapy, and Mat Pilates. She teaches her own style of Hatha, Pure Power, Yoga Therapy, and her favorite Krishnmacharya style asana, preparing the body, breath, and mind for the “pinnacle posture”.
She continues working on publications on how to stay healthy, fit, and at peace and is a popular public speaker who helps inspire and empower women with her own personal story of breaking through adversity and defying so many odds. Shoshana and her husband Jake are happy to call Mobile their home since 2014.
Sound Bath Practitioners: Ashley, Tony & Carmen
Ashley Black has been meditating regularly for several years and is a volunteer at the Meditation Center of Alabama. She moved from Huntsville to Mobile in 2019. Ashley is a nurse and has a Bachelor’s degree in metaphysical science from the the University of Sedona. Ashley is a certified Mindfulness & Meditation Trainer from World Peace Initiative. She is passionate about peace and positive self transformation.
Tony studied at the University of South Alabama graduating in 1990 with a degree in communications and a minor in psychology. Tony served six years in the Army National Guard then became a professional musician. Tony traveled regionally working with an Elton John impersonator for five years. Before that he toured with an Elvis impersonator for 15 years. Tony plays guitar, sax, steel, drum and piano. I began meditating 10 years ago and started coming to the center around 4 years ago. Thanks to Ashley, Black I began and taking an interest in the sound Bowls and have assisted her on several meditation events. I’m very happy to be able to come and meditate and always send the highest love and energy to all of my fellow meditators. I’m very grateful to be here.
Carmen recently completed her diploma for Integrative Healing Arts. She is passionate about the interconnectedness of the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects of life. Meditation has been an integral part of this pursuit and she has been attending the Meditation Center of Alabama where her interest has been nurtured and encouraged! She has been playing the singing bowls as a means of relaxation, restoration, and balance since 2020 and is excited to share this modality with others!
Meditation Instructor: Lar Nimit
Lar Nimit is the director and founder of the Meditation Center of Alabama. With over 25 years of meditation experience, she has explored various techniques and has been dedicated to practicing the Middle Way Meditation method for more than two decades.
Beyond her deep commitment to meditation, Lar is a certified public accountant and previously owned Bangkok Thai Cuisine, a beloved local Thai restaurant. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, and a Master’s degree in Economics from Western Michigan University.
Her passion for holistic healing has led her to study Universe Energy Healing and Pranic Healing in depth. She is a Qigong coach, having attended multiple Qigong classes at the Omega Institute in New York. Lar is a certified Mindfulness & Meditation Coach from World Peace Initiative and has completed MBSR with a certificate to teach Introducing Mindfulness from the Mindfulness and Health Institute in collaboration with Oxford University.
She is dedicated to spreading true inner peace and happiness, helping others cultivate mindfulness and well-being through the transformative power of meditation. Lar’s vision is to create a Meditation Retreat Center for the community, providing a sanctuary where individuals can find peace, clarity, and deeper spiritual connection.

Guest Speaker: Forrest Neal
Forrest Neal is an author, speaker, performance coach, and formerly ordained monk in the Dhammakaya tradition. He has traveled internationally, interviewing leading experts in mental health practices, alternative therapies, and cultural approaches to conflict resolution. His work focuses on reintroducing time-tested wisdom from ancient cultures into the modern world, helping people of all ages and backgrounds enhance their quality of life today and actively shape the future of human potential.
Meditation Coach: Nena
Nena Nimit, M.D., is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist who finished medical school, residency and fellowship at the University of South Alabama. She is a cofounder of a non-profit organization, the Meditation Center of Alabama, and the University of South Alabama Meditation & Mindfulness Club. She is an accredited Mindfulness & Meditation Instructor, has undergone a 3-month intensive residential training, and has worked as a Wellness Physician in Thailand at wellness destination retreat sites. She is passionate about finding peace and sharing this wisdom with others.
